A Big Win in Texas and Your Chance to Meet President Obama

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Blue Print! We’ll start with some good news:

A Big Win in San Antonio

Over the weekend, Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones won Saturday’s mayoral runoff in San Antonio. This is a big win for Texans in one of the largest cities in the country.

And Mayor-Elect Ortiz Jones’ victory also comes as Republicans tried — and failed — to pump massive amounts of right-wing dark money into her opponent’s campaign.

Here’s how the DNC helped fight back:

• We supported Texas Democrats’ get-out-the-vote efforts, reaching over 100,000 voters through volunteer outreach.

• We deployed over 200 of our volunteers both locally and nationally through phone banks and canvases.

Our efforts paid off — despite Republicans’ big spending on this race, voters showed up and made their voices heard loud and clear: They want strong Democratic leaders who will fight for them, protect their rights, and build opportunities within their communities.

That’s a pattern we’ve seen consistently this year, as Democrats have overperformed and won in races across the country — from Pennsylvania to Nebraska, and beyond. While Republicans alienate working- and middle-class families, Democrats continue to offer an alternative to Republicans’ disastrous agenda. Voters are casting ballots accordingly.

Trump Put Lives at Risk for Political Gamesmanship

Trump continues to abuse his powers to fulfill his campaign of revenge and retribution — and now he’s calling for Gov. Gavin Newsom to be arrested.

Instead of working with state and local authorities to ensure public safety, Trump chose to ignore them and endanger both law enforcement and community members.

Trump isn’t focused on “law and order” — he’s focused on political gamesmanship and provoking chaos.

Americans don’t support Trump’s draconian immigration policy that rips families apart and targets individuals regardless of immigration status, using ICE to sow fear and confusion in immigrant communities.

Americans want a commonsense approach that builds attainable pathways to U.S. citizenship while strengthening our border security — like the bipartisan bill that Trump thwarted last year.

Trump knows that his administration is in shambles after his very messy breakup with Elon Musk amid rising prices for consumers and dire economic indicators that show we’re rapidly heading toward a recession. He’ll do anything — including politicizing the military and jeopardizing public safety — to make Americans look away from the mess he’s made in Washington.

Gov. Newsom is suing Trump’s administration for bypassing the executive authority of our country’s governors. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
