Democrats Are Fighting Around The Clock
Happy Wednesday, Democrats!
After last week’s historic Democratic wins, the DNC is already hard at work fighting Trump’s dangerous agenda and supporting Democrats nationwide. Last Tuesday, Democrats all across the country cast their ballot to pave the way for a better country. With new governors, mayors, and state legislators preparing to be sworn in, the DNC is working full steam ahead to keep this momentum going into 2026.
This week, we’ll be looking at the impact of the 2025 “Blue Sweep” and what it means as we look to the future. Democrats made history, and we’re ready to fight back against MAGA Republicans’ harmful scheme against the American people.
Additionally, we’ll be taking a look at how Democrats have stood for their constituents throughout Trump’s government shutdown, as he stood by his billionaire buddies rather than the American people.
Democrats’ Historic Blue Sweep
Last week, voters delivered a reckoning to Donald Trump as Democrats swept the election season, proving that voters are ready to stand up against MAGA Republicans who have betrayed them. We won top to bottom, with historic victories from Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger to breaking the GOP supermajority in the Mississippi state Senate.
This election season, we organized everywhere to win anywhere. We successfully won back significant voters we lost in 2024, successfully winning a majority of independent voters, and increased our margins with Black, Latino, and AAPI voters. Significantly, youth voters turned out for Democrats, with voters ages 18 to 29 leading the charge to Democratic victories.
These wins prove that we are the party of the people. As Trump was throwing lavish parties at Mar-a-Lago and building his ballroom, Democrats campaigned tirelessly on how they would make life more affordable. With layoffs rising, a slumping job market, and Americans struggling to make ends meet, voters are incensed by Donald Trump’s chaotic and out-of-touch priorities. While he lines the pockets of CEOs by giving them massive tax breaks, voters chose Democrats to fight so families can put food on the table and make rent.
We’re Winning in 2026 and Beyond
For the past 90 years, when Democrats have swept the New York City mayoral race and the governor’s mansions in New Jersey and Virginia, Democrats have won the majority in the House the next year. But we aren’t taking our foot off the gas.
This election season proved that Democrats have all the momentum going into the midterms, and the DNC is working around the clock to support the party across the country. Our promise is to build an America where anyone can make a decent living and support their family. An America where people are safe and respect one another. Where there’s opportunity for all. And that’s exactly what we’re fighting for going into 2026.
American voters are fed up with Trump’s disconnected agenda and are ready to see real change in their communities. The DNC is making historic investments nationwide to support leaders who will stand up for everyday citizens. We did it this year, and we’ll do it again in ‘26.
The Republicans’ Shutdown is Over
The longest shutdown in American history has ended, and Republicans are to blame for forcing Americans to choose between putting food on the table and paying their medical bills, as insurance premiums are set to double for millions of people.
President Trump and his Republican followers in Washington took our country off a cliff and straight into a ‘Gilded Recession,’ and Democrats want action to address health care, groceries, housing, and jobs. While Trump demolished the White House’s East Wing to build his gold ballroom, Democrats stood up for affordable health care.
Throughout the shutdown, Trump weaponized SNAP benefits, leaving the 42 million Americans who rely on the service in limbo. As DNC Chair Ken Martin said, “voters will never forget the day Trump turned his back on them so he could focus on building his gilded ballroom.”
While working Americans wondered how they would make ends meet due to the cruelty of Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, Democrats fought to lower costs so everyday Americans can get ahead. Democrats, no matter where they are, are meeting voters at the kitchen table, not a gilded ballroom.
And today, Adelita Grijalva was finally sworn in by Mike Johnson. She was elected 50 days ago, making the time between her election and swearing in the longest in special election history. Throughout the shutdown, Republicans denied Arizonans in her district a voice in Congress as they vacationed for weeks.
Let’s be clear: Republicans and Republicans alone shut down the government. The GOP betrayed working families and would rather have kept the government closed than address the skyrocketing costs of health care throughout the shutdown. MAGA Republicans have proved that they are not on your side, as they fought to cut essential services for tens of millions of Americans.
Tennessee’s Special Election
Election season isn’t over yet! This weekend, DNC Chair Ken Martin traveled to Tennessee to campaign for Aftyn Behn, a Democratic congressional candidate running in the deep-red 7th Congressional District. As Democrats are on a historic overperformance streak, Behn is challenging her opponent to flip the seat blue.
Chair Martin, along with Behn and Tennessee volunteers, spent Saturday knocking on doors to connect with Tennessee voters and reach them where they are. As Behn’s campaign focuses on affordability, they worked to inform voters about how their lives could be improved under her leadership.
Behn’s campaign proves that the DNC is competing everywhere, leaving no voter behind. Even in historically red districts, we are working to mobilize voters to show up and take a stand for what they believe in.
The Tennessee special election will be held on Tuesday, December 2.
