Democrats are Winning Big at the Ballot Box
Happy Wednesday, Democrats!
2026 is ramping up, and the DNC is just getting started. Already this year, we have implemented historic organizing programs to register voters and create community leaders to win big in the midterms and beyond. The past year has proven that no Republican seat is safe, so we’re all hands on deck to compete anywhere and everywhere this year.
As 2026 continues to crumble for Trump, Democrats are on offense to win back power and address the problems facing everyday families. From lowering prices for all Americans to protecting health care for working families, Democrats are fighting tooth and nail against Trump’s dangerous agenda.
With the midterms are rapidly approaching, the DNC is full steam ahead to win big this year. This week, we’ll be discussing early wins in 2026 that prove the momentum is on our side, Trump’s disastrous economy, and updates on the injustice and chaos caused by ICE in Minnesota.
We would not be here without supporters like you. Thank you for being in this fight with us!
Congratulations to Taylor Rehmet!
ICYMI: Last Sunday, Democrat Taylor Rehmet pulled off a shocking upset victory to flip Texas Senate District 9 — a district that Donald Trump won by 17 points in 2024. Since Trump took office, Democrats have dominated in elections at all levels across the country, winning or overperforming in 245 of 275 key races.
This is yet another sign that voters across the country are fed up with Trump and his America-second agenda. As prices continue to rise nationwide, voters are putting their faith in strong Democrats like Rehmet to tackle the issues that are impacting families most.
The DNC supported Rehmet by leveraging our distributed organizing program to help recruit local volunteers on the ground and reach more voters, as well as sending get-out-the-vote texts to voters in the final stretch of the campaign. Senator-elect Rehmet ran an exceptional campaign, and his win serves as a warning sign to Republicans across the country that no GOP seat is safe. We’re keeping our foot on the gas, competing everywhere to win anywhere this year.
Democrats Demand Change
Following the senseless chaos caused by ICE in Minnesota and the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, Democrats are demanding justice and concrete reforms.
Senate Democrats recently voted down the Department of Homeland Security funding bill and forced Republicans to negotiate in order to rein in ICE abuses. In the House, Democrats are refusing to bail out Republicans and fund DHS until reforms are enacted. Democrats are fighting for ICE officials to wear body cameras and remove their masks, ending racial profiling, and tightening rules around warrants for searches and arrests.
Americans have spoken, and they want ICE out of their communities. A majority of voters believe that increases in ICE funding are a bad use of taxpayer dollars, and do not trust Donald Trump to handle immigration. Democrats are fighting each day to demand justice and keep communities safe in Minnesota and beyond.
Trump’s Economy Continues to Erode
It’s been a rough 2026 so far for Donald Trump. From denying his presence in the Epstein Files to losing voter trust on immigration, the president continues to prove that he is out of touch with the American people and their priorities.
Trump’s economy also continues to come crashing down, as prices are skyrocketing faster than ever thanks to his tariffs. New economic data shows that US wholesale prices rose by 0.5% in December as tariffs continue to drive prices higher.
Additionally, Trump’s economic policies continue to result in job losses nationwide. Newly released data reveals that the manufacturing sector shed an additional 8,000 jobs in January, thanks to Trump’s tariffs increasing costs for companies. Trump’s job market has led to stalled hiring, higher unemployment, and a wrecked manufacturing sector.
Donald Trump continues to show us just how unaffordable he can make life for everyday Americans. Despite promising to lower costs, he continues to pursue his reckless trade war while spending his time dining at swanky galas with wealthy donors. According to a recent Fox News poll, voters prefer Democrats over Republicans on taxes for the first time in nearly 20 years. While Trump doubles down on his policies that leave working families struggling to afford necessities, Democrats are working around the clock each day to fight for everyday American families and address the issues that matter most. This year, we’re going to fight hard in the midterms to stop Trump and make America more affordable for working families.
Phone Bank for Democrats
The voices of our volunteers and voters matter — and your outreach makes a real difference. Join the DNC Call Crew for a two-hour Local Listeners phone bank. We'll have conversations with infrequent voters in our congressional battleground districts about the issues and values important to them. Collecting this feedback will help us shape our efforts for the 2026 midterms!
We’ll kick off the phone bank with an overview of who we're calling and a step-by-step training for our new callers on our calling platform. After that, you’ll have dedicated time to make calls and connect with voters.

Trump Attacks the Federal Reserve
After failing to lower costs for Americans, Donald Trump is using the Department of Justice to threaten an independent American institution: the Federal Reserve.
In this video, DNC researcher Jacob Horowitz breaks down what the Federal Reserve does, and how threats, investigations, and firings are putting Fed independence at risk.
