DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider is Shaping the Democratic Party for Special Election Success in 2025 and Beyond.
Hi everyone,
It’s been just over one month since we launched the Blue Print. Your unwavering support has been the driving force behind our growth. We truly appreciate grassroots supporters like you who have not only subscribed but also volunteered, donated, and uplifted democratic wins within your network. Thank you!
Here are the latest updates from our team:
Last month, Libby Schneider was named Deputy Executive Director of the Democratic National Committee. A proud North Dakotan and a talented baker, Libby has brought her state-level experience to the national level, helping the Party navigate its path toward winning elections in 2025 and beyond.
Keep reading to discover more about Libby, her passion for politics, and the driving force behind her commitment to public service.
Libby’s Introduction to Politics and Her Path to Deputy Executive Director
Libby grew up in a politically active family that instilled in her a responsibility to give back to her community. She credits her parents with her passion for public service, as they were advocates for justice and equal rights, particularly for those unable to advocate for themselves. Recognizing electoral politics as the most effective way to drive meaningful change, Libby found her calling in campaign work.
Before joining the DNC, Libby was the campaign manager for former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp’s 2018 reelection campaign and served in her Senate office for nearly five years.
Libby’s journey with the DNC began in 2019, when she started as the rural political director. In this role, she helped with Joe Biden’s successful 2020 presidential campaign, and over the years, Libby has worked her way up, referring to herself as a “utility player” within the organization.
Libby’s extensive experience in state-level politics has shaped her approach to her new role as Deputy Executive Director. “The folks in the states are the ones doing God's work getting Democrats elected,” she said. “It’s not our job to tell them how to do that — it’s our job to get them the resources they need to succeed.”
Rural Americans and the Democratic Party
Part of Libby’s work involves ensuring that the Party recognizes the unique needs of each state. “Rural is not a synonym for white, and it’s important to clarify that. Our country’s rural areas are just as diverse as the rest of the nation, and they're incredibly different,” Libby explained. “A rural area in Wisconsin is entirely different from one in Georgia, Michigan, or New Hampshire. But the commonality is that every state has rural areas, and I think a lot of the challenges they face can unite them in ways distinct from urban centers.”
The DNC is Fighting for the American People Amidst Chaos
Right now, Libby emphasized that the DNC’s focus is on fighting for people in the face of Trump and his allies’ disastrous agenda.
“We’re not a policy shop or members of Congress, so we can’t legislate. But what we can do is hold Republicans accountable,” she said. Right now, we’re doing this through People’s Town Halls and an aggressive communications strategy. “We can’t be afraid to throw a punch,” she added. “These are unprecedented times, and we need to run campaigns and the DNC in an unprecedented fashion.”
Building infrastructure may not be glamorous, but it’s essential. “If we don’t have a strong DNC, we won’t win,” Libby said. That work involves raising funds to hire diverse and talented staff, provide resources to the states, develop tools and technology to keep our voter files up to date, and keep supporters organized and invested in the Party. “A strong Democratic Party is the foundation for success,” she said.
What Keeps Libby Grounded
“It’s the people out there who don’t have the privilege of doing this work but need someone fighting for them. That’s what keeps me grounded,” Libby shared. “This job is such a privilege. It’s my dream job. I get to work with an incredible group of people every single day, both here in the building and out in the states. It’s humbling to see the difference we’re making.”
She added, “Donald Trump needs people who are going to work their asses off to hold him accountable. For me, it’s not just about opposing him, it’s about representing those who can’t always speak up or don’t have the privilege of a voice. Somehow, this kid from North Dakota ended up here, and now I have a voice. It’s my responsibility to use it for the folks who don’t. That’s what drives me every single day.”
Fresh off the Press: DNC Launches People’s Cabinet and War Room
In the last week, the DNC has announced two new major projects: the People’s Cabinet and a new DNC War Room operation.
The People’s Cabinet brings together qualified policy experts, national and local leaders, and voices from our communities — people who will cut through the lies and speak directly to Americans about the reality of what the Trump administration is doing.
In order to reach as many people as possible and meet them where they are, the Cabinet will conduct briefings with media and coalition partners, speak directly with Americans at town halls, produce digital content to reach people across the platforms where they get their news, engage in rapid response to counter the lies and disinformation from the Trump Administration, and serve as thought leaders for the Democratic ecosystem on effective strategy and tactics in countering the worst of the Republican agenda.
On top of that, the new DNC War Room will expand and streamline the DNC’s communications, research, and mobilization operations — focused on expanding Democrats’ reach into new information spaces, modernizing the rapid response operation, leveraging creative opposition tactics and an expansive research operation, and launching a modernized misinformation counterprogramming vertical to combat the lies from the right.
Your Feedback
Last month, our team sent around a feedback form asking supporters what they’d like to see the DNC do and what changes or initiatives they’d like to see us prioritize. More than 30,000 supporters provided feedback on DNC priorities. The majority emphasized three key areas:
Communication Strategy: Build stronger messaging that highlights Democratic values and long-term party building, not just anti-Trump rhetoric. Modernize media outreach for younger audiences and provide more opportunities for supporter involvement.
Organizing Investments: Expand year-round grassroots and community organizing. Over 20,000 respondents requested more town halls and listening sessions for direct voter engagement.
Messaging Clarity: Develop clearer messaging on economic issues, healthcare, housing, and tax fairness that resonates nationwide and counters Republican narratives.
With your help, this is exactly what the DNC is working on implementing. Your feedback is essential, and we deeply value our relationship with you. Your insights, volunteer efforts, and engagement are just as crucial to our success.
Electoral Wins in Wisconsin
While Trump and Elon Musk are catering to their billionaire buddies with tax giveaways, Democrats are organizing everywhere and building our momentum. Here’s what your support helped make possible in Wisconsin last week:
Judge Susan Crawford defeated Musk-backed candidate Brad Schimel, becoming the deciding vote on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Democrat Gordon Hintz won his election for county executive in Winnebago — a crucial swing county in Wisconsin.
Democrat Melissa Agard won reelection for Dane County Executive.
Dr. Jill Underly was reelected as Superintendent of Public Instruction
