Donald Trump Has Tanked the Economy. Young Americans Are Paying the Price.
Across the country, young people are worried for their future as inflation continues to skyrocket and job opportunities disappear — but it doesn’t have to be this way.

The economy is NOT OKAY. Trump’s dangerous economic plan has impacted millions of Americans, especially young voters, making it difficult to secure a job or afford grocery trips.
We know that these harmful policies make it hard to get involved with politics — voters may be feeling defeated or may not have the resources to donate in traditional ways. However, it is more important now than ever to participate and make a change in your community. Here are just a few ways to get involved with the party in this economy.
Ready to support Democrats and the American people? Here’s what you can do:
Make Calls for 2025 Elections
Candidates like Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill will do everything they can to bring down costs in their respective states and make sure young people see a future where they can afford housing, find jobs, and get the health care they need. Join our national phonebanking operation with the Call Crew to inform voters about their plans, and make sure they have a plan to vote! Attend at least five phone bank shifts and mark any five boxes for the chance to get free Democrats’ Call Crew merchandise! Want to play? Sign up to call voters and find your bingo card in the confirmation email.
Get competitive and challenge your friends! Democracy is all about getting everyone involved, and what better way than with a friendly challenge?
Have a Conversation About the Impacts of Trump’s Failing Economy
It’s clear: Trump and Republicans are more focused on culture war stunts and protecting billionaires and big corporations than helping bring down the cost of living. Meanwhile, hiring has slowed down for people entering the workforce or in the early stages of their careers since Trump took office, leaving young people across the country feeling concerned about the economy and affordability. Meanwhile, Democrats running across the country are focused on making life more affordable.
Take five minutes today to reach out to someone and engage in a conversation around how rising food prices and cost of living are impacting your community. Is finding a job becoming more and more difficult? Are everyday items becoming increasingly expensive? Share information about the work Democrats plan to do to make life more affordable. Here are some of this year’s candidates’ plans:
Virginia: Abigail Spanberger wants to make it easier for cities to build more homes, keep existing housing affordable, help more young people get paid internships, and improve access to affordable prescription drugs.
New Jersey: Mikie Sherrill wants to help first-time homebuyers, stop shady landlords and investors, make insurance companies explain price hikes, give kids free school meals, and lower grocery costs by supporting local food shops.
Georgia: Democrats Peter Hubbard and Alicia Johnson, running for the Public Service Commission, want to hold utility companies accountable, invest in clean energy that’s more affordable, and lower energy costs for Georgians.
But don’t stop there! A crucial way of making your voice heard is through the ballot box. Make sure your friends are registered to vote. Do they live in a state with a critical race this fall? Help them identify their nearest early voting location, plan a time to go, and make sure they have everything they need! You can visit IWillVote.com or VoyAVotar.com for Spanish to get the details you need to help them make a plan.
Spread the Word Online
From Catelin Drey’s huge victory in the Iowa Senate District 1 race, which broke the Republican supermajority, to supporting Zohran Mamdani’s historic New York City mayoral race, Democrats are showing up across the country, pushing back against Republicans’ extreme agenda. But we can’t do it alone. Spread the message across your social media channels and engage your community!
We know the challenges posed to getting involved with politics, especially in Trump’s economy, but it is more important now than ever to take action to protect our democracy. The future of the Democratic Party is our youth supporters who are making strides toward impactful change in their communities. Take a stand and get involved today!
Thanks for fighting with us!
