Help Support Families This Weekend
While Trump and Republicans’ budget cuts continue to leave millions of Americans struggling to put food on the table, Democrats are addressing the issue head-on and supporting families directly.
Under Trump’s billionaire-first agenda, roughly 4 million people each month will lose some or all of their SNAP food assistance once the new changes take effect, according to nonpartisan estimates from the Congressional Budget Office. These cuts mean fewer groceries, emptier pantries, and harder choices for working families already struggling to get by. The reality is clear: Trump sold out working families in exchange for tax cuts for his billionaire friends, and now communities are being backed into a corner, forced to decide whether to pay their rent, put food on the table, or forgo their health insurance just to be able to afford basic necessities.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Costs continue to rise under the Trump administration, and families across the country are still feeling the squeeze just as we head into the Thanksgiving season, when food insecurity hits hardest.
Democrats are stepping up to help and to push Republicans to put working families first. While they take on that fight, we know that communities need support, especially with the holiday season approaching.
We all need to step up and support our neighbors during this time. Together, we can show what it looks like when Democrats lead with compassion, care, and community. Here’s what you can do:
Host A Food Drive in Your Community
Now more than ever, it’s important to be involved in your community and be there for your neighbors. Hosting a food drive is just one way we can help. We are hosting a series of training on how you can help ensure your neighbors can put food on the table as we head into the Holidays. Join our upcoming training to learn more about how you can host a food drive and address food insecurity in your community.
Help Communities with Food Insecurity
As everyday Americans are getting stuck with skyrocketing prices and struggling to make ends meet, local food banks are the first line of defense in providing hunger relief and assistance. In response to growing community needs, food pantries are looking for support to feed families and assist those facing food insecurity. Find resources within your state to learn how you can help.
Keep the Pressure on Republicans
While Donald Trump and his buddies in Congress are cutting health care and food assistance to give tax breaks for billionaires, millions of Americans are being forced to struggle just to survive. It’s time we hold them accountable. Spread the word across your social media channels and call them out!
Thanks for fighting with us! Together, we can make a difference.
In solidarity,
Jenny
