Trump's reckless trade war and budget bill are jacking up costs for American businesses, farmers, and consumers. Families are paying more for their electricity bills, struggling to afford school supplies, and seeing the costs of PlayStations, cars, coffee, and clothing all go up. At the same time, workers feel stuck, and the job market isn’t helping, especially as more and more employees are dissatisfied with their wages under Trump.
Now, Republicans are attempting to lie their way through it — rebranding their disastrous budget bill as a “working families tax cut” even though the people benefiting the most from this bill are America’s richest. The reality? With less income, less health care, and less food assistance, Trump’s billionaire-first budget is making life harder for Americans across the country. Plain and simple, Trump’s budget bill leaves working families worse off.
This weekend, as we celebrate Labor Day, let’s not forget the working people who built our country, paving the way for the United States’ leadership in innovation and creativity. While the economic uncertainty under Trump and Republicans has stalled the American dream, leaving people hesitant to buy homes or switch jobs amid a lack of opportunity, Democrats are committed to empowering working Americans and fighting Trump’s attacks on labor.
Ready to join the fight? Here’s how you can do your part:
Support Democrats in Virginia
Across the country, the Trump administration’s reckless policies are hurting communities. This is especially true in Virginia, where federal layoffs and tariffs are stifling the job market and driving up costs. This November, Virginians can elect Abigail Spanberger, who has pledged to build an economy that expands opportunity for everyone, as their governor. That means making sure Virginians can earn a good living, support their families, and know they’ll have a secure retirement. But they can’t do it alone. Sign up to volunteer with Virginia Democrats to help elect Abigail Spanberger and support Democrats as they work together to stand up for workers and families.

I am part of a group in Pittsburgh, PA called the Pittsburgh Overpass Project. On Monday at 8 am I and my team will gather on the Brinton Road Bridge which goes over I-376 and wave flags and display banners saying "Grab Him by the Epstein Files" and "Close the Torture Camps"at the drivers coming in to downtown Pittsburgh for the Labor Day Parade. We are one of a number of overpasses around the city that will have people displaying banners. We will be there until 10 am.
