Three actions you can take this weekend to support Democrats
Here’s what you can do this weekend to support Democrats and fight against the Trump administration.
Across the country, Democrats are fired up and looking for a place to channel their energy. We will continue to share ways you can effectively take action, not only on how you can fight against the Trump administration, but also how to take action to support Democrats.
Here are some top actions you can take this weekend:
1. Support John W. Ewing, Jr. for Mayor in Omaha, NE
John W. Ewing, Jr. is challenging a long-time Republican-endorsed incumbent for Mayor in Omaha, Nebraska. Ewing is a 43-year public servant, previously serving as Deputy Chief at the Omaha Police Department and 18 years as Douglas County Treasurer. He is committed to improving public safety, economic development, and addressing the housing shortage in the city.
Just 2,640 votes separated Ewing and the incumbent mayor in the primary, and Tuesday’s election is expected to be close. Every contact with a voter could make a difference. Find opportunities to get involved with the Nebraska Democrats here:
2. Join our Fight to Save Medicaid.
As we outlined last week, Republicans in the House are pushing to pass a budget that would devastate working families and defund critical programs, including:
Cutting $674 million from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) program management
Cutting $4.5 billion from K-12 education
Cutting nearly $2.5 billion in funding for states for clean water infrastructure
Slashing over $26 billion from federal rental assistance programs
Cutting $721 million from USDA’s Rural Development programs, including money for broadband, businesses, and housing loans
Cutting $315 million in preschool development grants, eliminating the program
We can stop them. We are targeting four vulnerable House Republicans who could kill the GOP bill — Tom Barrett (MI-07), Don Bacon (NE-02), Mike Lawler (NY-17), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01). If you live in one of these districts, give them a call and remind them what’s at stake.
No matter where you live, join an upcoming training to learn how you can effectively pressure republicans through local, digital, and direct pressure. Find an upcoming training here.
3. Attend an upcoming People’s Town Hall
Earlier this week, we announced a town hall in Bucks County, PA (R-Brian Fitzpatrick’s District) with Senator Ruben Gallego. If you are in the area, sign up here. If not, be on the lookout for clips from the event on our social media. We will be announcing more town halls throughout the month, so check back on our website for more information.
Thanks for being in this fight with us!

Get out on the street corner, intersection, grocery storefront, with a sign as many days of the week you're able&willing to do it. Exposure to as many people--even those who disagree with comment on your sign--has a huge impact.
Why would a Democrat want to attend a Ruben Gallegos' Town Hall? Look up his voting record over the last 6 months and note how many times he's voted to further Trump's agenda and confirm his nominees. He's not much of a Democrat.
