Training the Next Generation of Leaders
Meet Morgan Hine, the new National Training Director at the DNC!
Hi, I’m Morgan Hine, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new National Training Director at the DNC! In this role, I have the privilege of leading our National Training Program, where we bring Democrats together from all across the country, including staff, local leaders, and candidates. It’s part of my job to make sure they have the tools and support they need to thrive.
I got my start back in 2018 as a field organizer in Idaho. As a young organizer, I spent a lot of time knocking doors in rural, often red communities. What I found was that most people were eager to talk about the issues affecting their communities. A lot was at stake at the ballot box, from keeping their local public library operational to passing a school bond so their kids’ public school could stay open the next year. And more often than not, these voters were ready to pitch in and get to work. Those conversations with voters and volunteers are what kept me energized and committed to this work.
I went on to spend four years in Idaho as Operations, Data, and Training Director, where I helped launch our first year-round candidate camp and worked with new county leaders to make complex data tools easier to use. That’s where I really fell in love with training. In 2023, I joined the DNC as Deputy National Training Director and then as Western Regional Director for the States Team. Now, I’m thrilled to be stepping into this new role to create a program built to last that will train thousands of Democrats across the country.
What are we working on?
Six months ago, I returned to the DNC with a mission to strengthen the Democratic staff pipeline and train the next generation of leaders in the ecosystem. For the first time in years, the Training Department is its own standalone sole department at the DNC. We are launching new and exciting programs to strengthen the skills of young staffers, organizers, and leaders doing the work on the ground.
Through our bootcamp training model, the DNC trains hundreds of Democrats on high-level skills, management, and leadership training and support, and provides an opportunity for staff in the field to come together to share ideas, strategy, and build community with each other.
In August, we hosted a three-day intensive Data Bootcamp with over 45 data professionals working in various states.
We plan to host at least four regional in-person bootcamps in 2026, with the goal of training Democrats of all experience levels in targeted states to work on 2026 races. In addition, we will match staff who have gone through the DNC training program to jobs on local campaigns, state parties, and coordinated campaigns.
How can you get involved?
The mission of the Training Team is to serve as a hub for best-in-class training resources and information, so that Democrats can show up authentically, confidently, and ready to win. We are positioned to do this, but we need your support. Your donation pays for travel scholarships for staff to attend an in-person bootcamp.
The DNC Training Team has already trained over 1,550 staff, candidates running up and down the ballot in 2025, and we are so excited to build out our programming in 2026 and beyond.
You can stay in touch with upcoming training events that are happening through the DNC and within the ecosystem by signing up for our newsletter. You can also reach out to our team anytime about upcoming training sessions at training@dnc.org.
Happy Training!
