Fight to Save Medicaid: May Month of Action
How the DNC’s organizing program is empowering supporters in May to fight to save our health care.
This morning, the DNC announced the launch of our “Fight to Save Medicaid” month of action in tandem with our brand new organizing program.
The DNC’s organizing program will empower everyday Americans with the resources and know-how to hold Republican representatives accountable and build grassroots power ahead of critical statewide and midterm elections in 2025 and 2026. Throughout May, we will be leveraging that grassroots power to target four vulnerable Republicans who could kill the GOP’s budget that will gut critical programs and cut funding for Medicaid.
Americans are fired up, and recent reporting shows that these Medicaid cuts are widely unpopular.
The DNC will empower voters to take a clear message directly to Tom Barrett (MI-07), Don Bacon (NE-02), Mike Lawler (NY-17), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01): A deeply unpopular vote against Medicaid cuts this month will cost you your seat come the midterms.
Here’s how you can get involved:
No matter where in the US you live:
Sign up for our new training, The Network Strategy, where you will learn tactics for holding Republicans accountable throughout May and beyond
If you live in one of the target districts:
Engage in direct pressure with your Republican Representative. Call their office and let them know that you are angry. We’ve set up an easy tool with a script for you to do so.
Attend an upcoming People’s Town Hall. We are hosting People’s Town Halls in your district! Be on the lookout on our website for the sign-ups throughout the month as they become public. We will be sure to share them here on Substack as well.
This month is just the first of many moments like this where we need to rally together to pressure Republican elected officials. Organizing doesn’t end after Election Day. We are taking action year-round to fight for a better America.
See you in a training session soon!

I think we need to pressure a lot more than 4. 4 is the minimum you need to have the bill not pass. But we’ve see the chicanery that happens at vote time. The vote gets held while the holdouts get pressured/bribed/threatened/whatever. Then the bill passes. I think it’s narrow sighted to only focus on 4.
Activate America has postcard campaigns to urge voters in multiple swing districts to call their Republican congressperson to vote for full funding of Medicaid. Here is who:

Republican Congresswoman Young Kim in CA 40
Republican Congressman Ken Calvert in CA 41
